The Warm Hum - Residency/retreat
Artist Residence
Over the span of 3 weeks, a carefully selected host of artists from different backgrounds and disciplines will guide the creative flow. With the luxury of time to ground and tune in together, space for moments of improvisation along with focused, quality studio sessions. To follow the spark of inspiration and nurture whatever emerges.
Participants
As a participant, there is no musical prowess required as such, whether an experienced musician or complete novice, there will be an opportunity to enter into the creative field in any capacity. To immerse in an atmosphere of artistic alchemy and partake in the playful and intuitive creative process.
Through different practices we will bring our awareness inward. And listen to what is alive inside, nurturing each one where they are at. Cultivating together a safe and intimate space for authentic self expression.
Intention
Attuning our collective voice.
We will tend to both ends of the bridge;
Between sound & silence,
Between the raw and the pristine.
Between ancestral traditions & contemporary waves,
Between the organic & the electronic,
Interweaving the wisdom of the past and the future.
Meeting in the middle with living presence.
Through loving awareness and the magic of music, enter in careful communication with ourselves, our environment, and each other.
Well-being & Practices
Finding the balance between musical explorations, we will integrate and ground ourselves in wholesome daily practices.
Here is an insight into the types of activities that will be on offer;

With warm love,
getting here
We are in Mazunte, on the coast of Oaxaca in Mexico.

We are equidistant from airports in Puerto Escondido (pxm) and Huatulco (hux). The journey from either airport to our place is about an hour. it costs about 900-2000 mxn, depending on number of people, your willingness to walk outside the airport, and negotiation skills.
Both Puerto Escondido and Huatulco have frequent flights to and from Mexico City. Puerto Escondido has some very inexpensive, direct flights from Tijuana on Volaris, which can be a good option if you’re in Southern California. You can park or be dropped off on the US side and walk across the Cross Boarder Xpress to the airport. It’s very easy to do.
Otherwise, you’ll get yourself to Mexico City, then book a short flight down to the coast. guadalajara, dallas, and chicago also have flights to huatulco. puerto escondido does not have any international flights. Most options will show up on Kayak, Expedia, etc.. Common airlines to the coast are Volaris, Viva Aerobus, and Aero Mexico.
Driving from Mexico City takes about 9 hours; 6 hours to Oaxaca City, then another 3 hours to the coast via a new super highway.
There is also the option to take the scenic route from oaxaca, over a very windy, but beautiful mountain road. If you have the time, I highly recommend a stay up there someday. Terraza de la tierra is amazing.
